Obscurities Out Now!

Obscurities, the long-awaited Stephin Merritt rarities collection, is out now via Merge Records.  Purchase the album at the Merge Records online store, which offers free shipping to all US orders.  The $17.98 vinyl edition offers a free download code in order to upload the record to MP3 format.  Cheers!

  3. i have a question for the smart people: liner notes says that 'beach a boop boop' was written by Stephin and Shirley. any clue what Shirley did?

  4. I think they were just co-authors, really. It is mentioned in this interview (http://www.chickfactor.com/current/cf16_shirleysimms.shtml) very briefly. They wrote it when they were quite young, before they had a 4-track, and liked Frankie & Annette flicks. Stephin says it was inspired by the film "She-Beast." That's about all I know, I suppose.
